    Correct, please go to www.clan-wars.net
    Username: uk
    password: webhosting

    then from the right side corner it will ask you to type in player id and password.
    As you can see when you type in the text field for the player id and password it is the same colour as the background.
    (background is white and text is white as you type)

    umm
    thats easy to solve then
    replace the line before with this
    HTML Code:
    <td valign='center' align='left'><font class='catfont'><font color="#000000"><strong>Player ID:</strong></font></td>
    <td valign='center' align='right'><font class='catfont'><font color="#000000"><input type='text' name='playerid' class='loginforma' onblur=\"if (value == '') {value = 'Login'}\" onfocus=\"if (value == 'Login') {value =''}\" value='Login'></td>
        </tr>
    then it should work
    you just need to change the font colour for the input text
    then your done
    hold on ...
    its not working ...

    switch the " for '

    Just an aside but this is a horrible lump of code: table based layout, font tags, visual and semantic elements mixed together...horrible horrible horrible.

    Is poor standards compliance normal in other CMSs?

    Does it really matter if it's horrible? It's not like it's going to change.. if it functions correctly that is perfect with me

    I'll try and use that code you sent me ... thank you!

    Ok the coding is incorrect... instead of the typing and the colour of the text being #000000
    the "Player ID" is written in black...

    And even with
    Code:
    <td valign='center' align='right'><font class='catfont'><font color="#000000"><input type='text' name='playerid' class='loginforma' onblur=\"if (value == '') {value = 'Login'}\" onfocus=\"if (value == 'Login') {value =''}\" value='Login'></td>
    This section to the text field doesn't make no difference....
    ok forget that. for the text field I want the background text field to be
    #000033 and the text colour how it is.. -> #FFFFFF

    That'a because you are specifying the color for the table cell but you need to specify the colour for the input box.

    Where you have input type='text' you can use the style attribute to change the background color etc e.g. input type='text' style='background-color: #000033'

    Of course if this was standards compliant and used CSS this wouldn't be so messy to do

    my previous post was a mistake. It didnt change the thing you wanted .
    I was going to look into the CSS coding too to change the colour. But it seems you already beat me to it.
    Just a suggestion try make your site abit more .. organized i guess ...

    And in all fairness some of these scripts have been knocking about for quite a while now. If you kind find an off-the-shelf CMS that does what you want but is fairly standards compliant then I'd go for that but a lot of the time you don't have much of a choice.
